Overview

Lorhan most commonly appears as an unshaven young man with dark, tousled hair. While associated with chaos, he is more inclined toward mischief than destruction. His antics were typically either a boon or a nuisance to the Upper Gods, and often both.

While his usual bearing is brash and playful, Lorhan has a great appreciation for humility, and is a patron of the poor and oppressed. Many tales exist of the trickster humiliating tyrants and misers. One of his most favored tactics is to make a deal with his target, but phrasing the terms in such a way that he can turn it on the fool, without speaking an untruth. He is not adverse to lying, of course, but he considers it a specialized tool that is misused too easily and often.

History

Before the Mortal Aeon, the trickster god was a more unpredictable and chaotic god. While this frequently put him at odds with Adinn, the ruler of the gods, Lorhan was always careful that his pranks would do no lasting harm, and his beneficial contributions to the gods were enough to ensure forgiveness.

Lorhan is well known as the benefactor of the Tynari, though he did not create them. They were made by Ganvar, the god of conquest, as craftsmen and servants. When Lorhan recognized in them a desire to learn art and music, he became determined to free them.

Lorhan came to Ganvar and challenged him to a game of strategy, wagering his own freedom against that of the Tynari and their homeworld. Ganvar would already find it difficult to turn down such a challenge, but the prospect of commanding another god led him to accept. The two strategists played long, with the conqueror finally taking control of the entire board, albeit at great loss in pieces. As Ganvar gloated over his victory, Lorhan calmly smiled, having played his ploy perfectly: Eager for control, Ganvar had missed the stipulation that the game would go to whoever held "the greatest force" at its end. As Lorhan still had nearly twice as many pieces remaining on the board, he had won under these terms. Enraged, Ganvar accused the trickster of cheating, but fate held the contract to be binding: He had already lost control of the Tynari.

Lorhan's first act as the new ruler of the Tynari was to free them. He then mediated an agreement between Tey and Aldri, where the Tynari would share their handiwork with the gods, in exchange for the resources to make Tey a place of beauty and prosperity. This
